Club members join the pacing team at the Brighton Half Marathon

This February two club members ran as pacers at the annual Brighton Half Marathon.

By pacing in a time of three hours they were able to support and encourage runners of all abilities who were taking part. Many were taking part for the first time and were able to complete the race in their target time.

Four of this autumn’s beginners course runners took part in Hove Park parkrun

They were supported by BHWRC club members running with them and around the course cheering them on.

They completed their first parkrun with strong finishes and were rewarded with edible medals.

We can’t wait to see more of the beginners course graduates on runs in the new year.

Cross Country Season is Here

Our members have been taking part in the Sussex Cross Country League.

Races have taken place at Goodwood and Stanmer Park and with so many members joining us for the first time, there’s never been a better time to try it out!

Takeover at Junior parkrun

On Sunday 12 members volunteered at junior parkrun to support the event.

From marshalling to barcode scanning, and handing out the finish tokens to tailwalking and coordinating all the volunteers at the event, our volunteers took part in a variety of roles.

The Annual Awards and AGM Takes Place In Person For The First Time In Two Years

After hosting it last year over Zoom, our members were able to meet up to celebrate running achievements over the past year.

From Best Run Leader to Outstanding Contribution to Club Life, the evening celebrated the success of runners over the past year and thanked the past committee for their contribution and saw a new committee elected.

A buffet served by Real Junk Food Brighton offered a vegan/vegetarian banquet along with an incredible memorable cake.

Thank you to all the committee and members who worked so hard to make it safe and a success.

Running and Training in Autumn 2020

Different running routes, excellent training sessions, new run leaders, personal achievements, virtual races and even a physical one for a few lucky runners plus the (virtual) AGM all filled our autumn with highlights to keep us connected.

We met up in small groups, in pairs and on solo runs and shared our achievements and running adventures. What were your highlights?

Members have continued to share their achievements with us, and you can see a snapshot on Instagram, @bh_wrc.

Now with the new guidelines in place, we have changed our running routine, but we’re adapting and ready.

Twice-weekly HiiT sessions on Zoom are back and we’re making it as easy as possible for you to find a running buddy if you need one!

We’re here to support Brighton and Hove Women’s Club Runners – so get in touch with us if you have any questions!
