FAQ’s

When do we meet?

Every Thursday. Runs start at 7.00pm so we suggest you arrive a bit earlier than this. Please introduce yourself to a club member (we’re a friendly bunch!) and they can point you in the direction of one of the committee members.

Where is the Hove Rugby Club?

At Hove Recreation Ground which is on the corner of Old Shoreham Road and Shirley Drive. Post code: BN3 6NQ.

Is my level of running good enough to be able to join the club?

In order to be able to complete the shorter run (3-4 miles) you should be able to run for about 20-30 minutes. To complete the longer run (5-6 miles) you should be able to run for about 45-50 minutes.

Run leaders stop occasionally to allow people to catch up and make sure no one is left behind. We also have back markers on the runs.

What runs does the club offer?

There are normally two runs each week: one of 3-4 miles and one of 5-6.

The first Thursday of the month is usually a club captain’s training session which are designed to be a) fun and b) to help improve your running/fitness.

We have also recently introduced a monthly simple 4.2 mile loop around the streets of Hove. The idea of this is that runners of all abilities can use this to judge how they are improving. There are opportunities for members to cut off at various points if they do not want to do the whole route. At least one runner in the front pack will be expected to know the way and those towards the back are asked to mind out for each other.

In the summer we arrange off road runs on alternate Thursdays. Details of these runs are added to the calendar on the website.

Who should I contact?

Please click on the email icon in the top right hand corner. Your email will automatically be sent to the club secretary.

Are you an affiliated club?

Yes. We are affiliated to England Athletics and membership includes a United Kingdom Athletics (UKA) competition licence which entitles you discounts on most races within the UK.

This also means we are allocated a certain number of Virgin London Marathon places which are offered to club members on a ballot basis. You need to have been a member for a certain period of time to be eligible for a VLM place.

We are also allocated a number of Brighton Marathon places as a result of our membership of the Sussex County Athletics Association.
